About The Position

The Communications Coordinator for the Science, Technology & Society - Knight Science Journalism Program (KSJ) will serve as a storyteller for KSJ. This role involves developing social media content, implementing marketing and outreach campaigns for KSJ fellowship and awards programs, overseeing and writing content for the program’s webpages, maintaining and nurturing the alumni network, promoting, attending, and documenting KSJ events and trips, and building relationships within and outside the Institute. The primary goal is to increase audience awareness of KSJ and its role in science journalism.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of three years work experience creating social media and marketing content across all media, including web, social media, email, and print.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to produce clean copy on deadlines.
  • Experience with social media content creation, monitoring, and analysis.
  • Strong graphic design skills.
  • Strong analytical, communications, and project-management skills.
  • Willingness to work in a flexible small team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of and passion for science, health, environmental, or tech journalism is desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or science.
  • Experience planning and implementing social media strategies.
  • Prior experience within a journalism environment is highly desirable.
  • A creative, enthusiastic, and innovative approach to work.
  • Experience with or ability to learn relevant software platforms.
