About The Position

Orangewood’s Communications Coordinator serves as a hands-on partner to the Communications Manager, focusing on the execution and day-to-day coordination of the school’s communication efforts. This role will have a special focus on managing digital content, coordinating with faculty and departments to present stories and updates, and ensuring consistency in messaging across multi-media platforms. The communications coordinator supports the production and management of digital and print materials and monitors engagement metrics while contributing to a steady and timely flow of communication that strengthens community connection and supports the school’s mission. The Communications Coordinator is a position requiring a calling to use God-given talents to further the Kingdom of God. The Communications Coordinator is expected to be a minister to the OCS community through actions, speech, attitude, and prayer, as they point students to Christ.

  • Be proficient in Apple, as well as MS Office suite-including Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and One Drive; knowledge of the latest internal communications measurement platforms a plus
  • Bachelor's degree with a focus in communications, marketing, graphic design, public relations, education, and/or journalism; advanced degree preferred
  • Communications professional with a minimum of three years in relevant experience

Nice To Haves

  • Be proficient in Adobe InDesign and Spark and/or Canva, a plus
  • Have some experience with various social media platforms (Facebook, Insta, LinkedIn)

Responsibilities

  • Craft and deliver impactful visual and written content designed around storytelling principles and Christ-first language to personalize the narrative in a way which resonates, is relatable, and captures Orangewood’s unique culture and values
  • Manage and execute the school’s social media presence across platforms, including planning, posting, and monitoring content aligned with the school’s communications calendar
  • Monitor social media engagement and basic analytics, providing regular updates and insights to the Communications Manager
  • Stay current on social media trends, tools, and best practices to enhance storytelling effectiveness and engagement
  • Ensure all content aligns with established missional and brand standards, voice, and visual identity guidelines
  • Capture and curate day-to-day campus life through digital assets; photos, videos, and short-form storytelling that reflects Orangewood’s culture, mission, and values
  • Coordinate and produce digital content (graphics, reels, short videos, stories) to support campaigns, events, and school initiatives
  • Assist in maintaining and updating the school’s website and digital displays (hallways) with professional and fresh digital content - current news, stories, and event information
  • Assist with the planning and deployment of digital activities, website, online campaigns, email marketing, social media, and digital content production
  • Lead the school in gathering stories, highlights, and updates from across all divisions and programs
  • Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining a school podcast
  • Draft and schedule routine communications, including social media captions, email highlights, website updates, and event promotions
  • Create a plan to create and deliver stakeholder videos (students, parents, faculty and staff, alumni) no less than quarterly (ideally, monthly).
  • Maintain and manage a content calendar to ensure consistent, timely, and mission-aligned communication across platforms
  • Support live event coverage (e.g., Serve Day, athletics, fine arts, chapel moments) through real-time or same-day storytelling
  • Help archive and organize digital assets (photos, videos, testimonials) for future communications and marketing use
  • Support broader programs of school by attending after school meetings and events
  • Perform other duties, as assigned
