About The Position

The Morgridge College of Education (MCE) at the University of Denver (DU) is seeking a Communications Coordinator to support communication efforts that advance student recruitment, onboarding, and retention. This role serves as a central hub for communication requests across the college, working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and campus partners to ensure timely, accurate, and coordinated messaging. The coordinator helps translate departmental needs into clear communication strategies and deliverables, ensuring consistency and alignment across programs and audiences. We are looking for a candidate who can lead efforts in project coordination, content development, and communication planning that supports the student lifecycle. This is a full-time, benefitted position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1–2 years of experience in communications, project coordination, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience supporting communication efforts in a collaborative, team-based environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to and experience working with diverse populations and constituents
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences
  • Excellent organizational and project coordination skills, including the ability to manage multiple requests and deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and leadership
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all communications
  • Ability to translate complex or technical information into clear, accessible language
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with content management systems
  • Proficiency with design software such as: Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.
  • Commitment to working with diverse populations and contributing to an inclusive environment
  • Ability to be resourceful, flexible, and a team player.
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing or updating web content using a content management system (e.g., Drupal, WordPress)
  • Working knowledge of CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Slate) and their use in supporting communication workflows and student engagement
  • Experience working in higher education or similarly complex organizations
  • Experience coordinating communication workflows or intake processes
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive communication practices

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a point of contact for communication-related requests across the college, including recruitment, admissions, student success, and engagement initiatives
  • Coordinate intake, prioritization, and tracking of communication projects to ensure timely completion and alignment with college priorities
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and leadership to develop clear, audience-centered messaging for prospective and current students
  • Assist in managing communication campaigns within CRM platforms to support prospective and current student engagement
  • Draft, edit, and manage a variety of communications, including the student newsletter, email campaigns, web content, student-facing materials, and internal messaging
  • Coordinate and manage social media content in alignment with college communication priorities, including drafting, scheduling, and monitoring posts across platforms
  • Maintain and update web content to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and alignment with program needs
  • Support communication efforts related to student recruitment, onboarding, retention, and key milestones throughout the student journey
  • Provide guidance and consultation to departments on effective communication practices and message clarity
  • Ensure consistency in brand standards, tone, voice, and information across communication channels
