About The Position

The Defense Sector at Leidos is seeking a Communications Coordinator to join a high-performing communications team to help drive social engagement and strategy across internal and external audiences for a subcomponent of the Department of Health and Human Services. The ideal candidate will have experience developing cross-platform communications packages, including press releases, web content, social media, and video content to inform and engage the public on scientific topics. As a member of a highly collaborative communications team, the Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Strategic Communications Manager, internal customers, production colleagues, and subject matter experts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of experience or a Master’s degree with 1+ years of experience.
  • US citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • 2+ years of experience in external communications, social media, and digital engagement.
  • Proven experience managing social media campaigns on channels such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram.
  • Experience with creating web content.
  • Ability to analyze and draw insights from social media metrics and have a deep understanding of social algorithms to optimize the channels.
  • Proficient in social media management software such as Hootsuite or similar.
  • Collaborative working style.

  • Excellent writing, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Success with being a team player.
  • Self-starter, with ability to manage tasks and handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • While this job is fully remote, occasional travel to government office in Washington, DC may be required.
  • Slight preference for candidates in the greater DC metro area who could visit the customer site more often.
