This position provides Clubhouse facilitation services to persons with acquired brain injury by assisting Members to work productively in one of five Clubhouse Work Units (Culinary & Nutrition, Maintenance & Horticulture, Communications, and Community Resources). As part of the transdisciplinary team, helps design and implement interventions from the Individual Rehab Service Plan that will lead to successful productive daily activity for every Member of the Clubhouse. Responsible for supervision, safety, and welfare of assigned Members at all times. The Communications Work Unit Coordinator will specifically be responsible for overseeing the operations of the Communications Work Unit and its Members; i.e., publishing and distributing the Clubhouse's monthly newsletter, supervising phone and reception services for the Clubhouse, providing administrative and clerical support to other Clubhouse work units, helping Members develop research and writing skills that Members apply to their work unit assignments, promoting Clubhouse special events, maintaining current Members' photos and IDs, and coordinating bulk mailings for Woods Services' Development Department.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED and have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience working with people with disabilities.
  • Must complete Chapters 1-24 of ACBIS training within 1st year of employment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services field.
  • 1 to 2 years work experience in human service field preferred.
  • Brain Injury Experience preferred.
  • Possess CBIS Certification and maintain this certification throughout employment.
  • Able to lift/transfer a minimum of 50 pounds, physically pursue participants on foot, bend, squat, reach, push up and stand for several hours at a time.
  • Ability to verbally and professionally communicate effectively with Clubhouse members, all Beechwood staff, funders, job placement sites and other organizations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Office (especially Word, Excel, Publisher, and Power Point).
  • Proficient in the utilization of electronic communications and various forms of social media.
  • Ability to learn and proficiently utilize Canva and Google Docs for newsletter articles.
  • Strong writing and editing skills for the Clubhouse newsletter.
  • Demonstrate writing skills to adequately perform all required documentation.
  • Must have own transportation and a valid driver’s license.
  • Proof of valid automobile insurance submitted annually.
  • Must complete Smith Driver Training Course.
  • Must complete and pass ServSafe Certification within 6 months of hire date and maintain this certification.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for publishing and distributing the Clubhouse's monthly newsletter.
  • Provides administrative and clerical support to other Clubhouse work units, supervises phone and reception services for the Clubhouse, and promotes Clubhouse special events.
  • Develops work for the Communications Work Unit and evaluates skills necessary for performing that work; breaks work down into components that each Member can perform.
  • Assists Clubhouse Members in the utilization of social media and electronic communications, and maintaining the Clubhouse’s participation in social media.
  • Provides skills training using job coaching principles and techniques to each Communications Work Unit Member so they can do the work of the Communications Work Unit. Utilizes cognitive, behavioral, and physical rehabilitation techniques as well as task analysis in doing work facilitation.
  • Facilitates all Members in the production of Clubhouse work, recognizing that for some Members, this can be a life-long productive daily living activity, and for others it is a stepping stone to obtaining competitive employment.
  • Functions as a part of a continuum of services which provides comprehensive rehabilitation strategies to develop appropriate work-related skills and behaviors that will enhance employability.
  • Facilitates Members’ interpersonal skills to enable positive social interactions, including developing strategies for effective negotiation and healthy conflict resolution, in order to improve quality of relationships in residential, recreational, and work settings.
  • Determines the need for environmental modifications, adaptive equipment and compensatory strategies including assistive technology and assists in obtaining and implementing these adaptations with emphasis on Members being able to maximize their performance in the Clubhouse.
  • Responsible for the weekly monitoring and documentation of Member activities in the Clubhouse.
  • Contributes to the development of an individual’s goals and objectives in their RSP/ISP.
  • Collects data and documents on goals and objectives and gives feedback on performance.
  • Supports other Work Unit Coordinators by providing coverage for their Work Units when needed.
  • Builds relationships with entities in the community and maintains positive community and customer relationships.
  • Work hours may require evening and weekend availability for time limited periods, to support Clubhouse evening and weekend activities.
  • Directs LSTs who are assigned to work in their Work Units, teaching them the strategies each Member needs to use to produce work, and observes their work with Members.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with all levels of the organization as well as with community organizations.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
