About The Position

The ByWater Institute’s mission is to catalyze thriving climate and water futures through transdisciplinary & collaborative scholarship. Under direction of the leadership team and in coordination with the Science Communication Coordinator, the Communications Assistant will maintain the ByWater Institute social media presence. This includes posting approved media and engaging with Institute audiences on LinkedIn, Instagram, and other social media platforms.

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• 1 year of work experience in any field
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), mass communications platforms, and social media platforms
• Ability to complete and pass successfully the required occupational health screening referenced in the University’s Animal Handler Health Surveillance Program on an annual basis (for incumbents who have contact or exposure to animals or animal tissues).
• Selected candidates must complete and pass a background check and an occupational health screening as a condition of employment (for incumbents who have contact or exposure to animals or animal tissues).
• For identified jobs, a drug screening will also be required (for incumbents who have contact or exposure to animals or animal tissues).
• The background investigation required occupational health screening, and any required drug screening will be conducted after a conditional employment offer has been extended.

• Knowledge of relevant environmental issues such as climate adaptation, water quality, water quantity, and transport, etc.
