About The Position

This position involves a wide variety of tasks related to the testing, maintenance, and operation of protection and control equipment. This includes Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), protective relaying, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Eversource NH telecommunication equipment (fiber optics, two-way radio, microwave), Distribution Automation equipment, SCADA communication systems, and switchboard devices. The role requires installation, testing, and repair of protective relays, SCADA systems, and telecommunication equipment. The individual will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electronic circuits, operate test equipment, use hand and power tools, and work from elevated positions or within confined spaces. Travel throughout the Eversource territory is required, along with a willingness to work overtime and participate in storm assignments for damage assessment and service restoration. This position is part of a multi-step progression program.

Requirements

  • An Associate’s degree in electrical technology, electrical power system technology, electrical control systems, telecommunication technology, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, or electronics.
  • Individuals with a BSEE or BSET degree are encouraged to apply.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE EEI TECHNICIAN’S APPTITUDE TEST IS REQUIRED.
  • Ability to perform math functions.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers.
  • Ability to interpret electrical/electronic drawings.
  • Ability to comprehend manufacturer technical instruction manuals.
  • Ability to follow instruction.
  • Good communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to work under limited supervision (when required).
  • Willingness to work a reasonable amount of overtime when offered.
  • Must become a member of the union.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the testing, maintenance, and operation of protection and control equipment including IED’s (Intelligent Electronic Devices), electromechanical and solid-state protective relaying, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) equipment, Eversource NH telecommunication equipment (including fiber optics, two-way radio, and microwave), pole-top Distribution Automation equipment (NOVA, Viper, & Scadamate, reclosers), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) communication systems, and switchboard devices.
  • Installation, testing, and repair of protective relays, SCADA systems, and telecommunication equipment.
  • Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on electronic circuits.
  • Operating test equipment.
  • Utilizing hand / power tools.
  • Working from elevated positions (ladders) or within confined spaces.
  • Performing work associated with damage assessment and service restoration during storm assignments.
  • Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs.

Benefits

  • Starting Rate of Pay: $41.84 per hour
