About The Position

The Communications Associate supports the Communications team by assisting with content creation, digital communications, and administrative coordination. This role helps ensure timely, accurate, and accessible communications that advance organizational priorities and support public engagement. Working under the direction of the Communications Manager, the Communications Associate collaborates with staff across departments to support campaigns, public education efforts, and rapid-response communications in a nonpartisan manner.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • One or more years of experience in communications, marketing, digital media, or a related field.
  • Strong written communication skills and interest in developing communications expertise.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and basic digital tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Commitment to the mission, values, and nonpartisan work of the ACLU.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with drafting and editing communications materials, including social media posts, email content, blogs, and web updates.
  • Support website maintenance and content updates to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Assist with scheduling and monitoring social media content and tracking basic engagement metrics.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for media outreach, including maintaining media lists and coordinating interview logistics.
  • Support production and distribution of communications and advocacy collateral.
  • Maintain communications calendars, content libraries, and shared files.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Communications team as needed.
  • Perform other communications-related duties as assigned.
