About The Position

Graham provides life-changing tools and resources for children, young adults and families who face some of the most difficult obstacles caused by poverty, racial injustice, and lack of access to educational opportunities, living wage employment, quality healthcare, and affordable housing. We collaborate with communities and strong partners to create and implement innovative strategies so everyone can lead healthy, joyful, and successful lives. The Communications Team works to increase Graham's name recognition and promote the organization as a leading subject matter expert in providing helpful help™ to children, families, and communities. This role will collaborate closely with the Development and Advocacy teams, using communications strategies to support the teams’ goal of engaging and expanding our donor and supporter audiences. Creative energy, relationship building, superior communications, and deep collaboration are characteristics of the team and how it effects change internally and externally as key connection agents for Graham. The Communications Associate will advance the visibility of the organization, our mission, initiatives, and spokespeople by supporting the implementation of communications initiatives for external and internal audiences. This role supports the Director of Communications in creating and publishing compelling content across various channels, including email, social media, website, and print and digital publications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, discipline non-specific
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Basic video editing experience
  • Strong understanding of content creation and best practices for social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok)
  • Experience using WordPress or another CMS
  • Comfort using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Basic understanding or willingness to learn about SEO and Google Analytics
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines
  • Must be willing to travel throughout NYC as needed

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of awareness-raising campaigns across email, paid digital ads, social media, and website.
  • Draft and edit visual and written content for print materials, social media, and website.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to maintain consistency with Graham’s brand and voice.
  • Leverage social media platforms to attract and engage supporters.
  • Use Google Analytics to track online performance and report on engagement rates and ROI.
  • Support Graham’s internal/staff communications.
  • Maintain SharePoint staff website and produce monthly staff newsletters.
  • Capture high-quality photography and video at school, after-school, evening, and weekend events, while maintaining a well-organized digital media library for use in communications and fundraising efforts.
