About The Position

The Communications and Engagement Coordinator provides communications support across functional areas within the Swearer Center to support outreach of the Center’s programs and initiatives and produce stories to communicate its impact. The position produces stories and narrative content, interviews constituencies for story highlights, and reports on Center activities. The role coordinates engagement and constituency-building efforts with students, faculty, staff, alumni, community partners and other stakeholders. Reporting to the Associate Director of Communications, the position develops and manages communications and marketing materials across platforms, including social media, websites, newsletters, print materials and promotional content, while supporting copy editing and content production. The position performs communications administration support duties related to communications logistics, systems management, visual assets management, communications calendar maintenance, center photography, and metrics reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, creative, proactive and collaborative.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1-2 years related experience (preferably in a marketing or communications setting) or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • High-level oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to elicit and communicate information in a clear, informative, and concise manner.
  • Demonstrated editing and writing ability with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on visioning, planning, and editing, while still being able to focus independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills to be able to organize, prioritize, and follow through on complex, multi-deadline projects.
  • Initiative and judgment to independently problem solve and prioritize competing priorities.
  • Fluency with computer applications, social media platforms, and systems (e.g., Google Workspace, Adobe Creative Cloud, Drupal, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).
  • A demonstrated commitment to social justice and diversity, equity, and inclusion; experience and comfort with working with people from diverse racial, socioeconomic and other backgrounds.

  • Photography/videography, and/or event planning is a plus.
