Comms Strategy & Operations Associate

Stripe•San Francisco, CA

About The Position

Stripe's comms organization does more than the traditional: they produce films, sell books, run social media channels, write talks, build physical machines, and create podcasts. The Comms Operations team is a small, nimble team serving as the connective tissue between strategy and execution. Their mission is to build and redefine the operating foundations that enable creative and ambitious storytelling. This role is not a traditional operations role; instead, it offers a front-row seat to how the Communications team builds and protects Stripe’s brand and influence globally, playing a pivotal part in designing the flywheel that compounds that impact. The Associate will help build and scale this infrastructure, working across different altitudes from co-designing team planning mechanisms to managing granular project details. This may involve redesigning processes, building custom AI agents, managing lightning talks, and pitching jingles.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in strategy, operations, program management, or an operating role supporting a senior leader or complex, cross-functional team.
  • Proven systems thinker who can bring clarity to messy workflows or chaotic projects, looking for root causes and building long-lasting solutions.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced environment and able to swiftly adapt as priorities shift.
  • Highly organized and able to manage several workstreams without losing attention to detail.
  • Actively use AI in daily work and experience building automations to eliminate manual drag.
  • Comfortable working with data and willing to learn new tools to answer operational questions (e.g., writing basic SQL queries or building custom dashboards from scratch).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior operations or program management experience specifically within communications, public relations, marketing, public affairs or experience in an adjacent fast-paced, high-growth technology environment.
  • Experience building scalable operational processes or programs.
  • Experience managing budgets and financial operations, including vendor contracting, purchase orders, payments, and budget tracking.
  • Familiarity with communications-specific metrics, media-monitoring platforms, and methods for tracking brand sentiment or impact.
  • Familiarity with SQL, data pipelines, dashboards, workflow-automation tools, or AI agents.

Responsibilities

  • Create processes, onboarding resources, and shared playbooks that help the team prioritize, track, and execute work effectively.
  • Lead the transformation of the team’s critical administrative engines such as inbound media requests, speaking inquiries, and team communication channels and aliases by identifying recurring patterns and building AI-enabled workflows and automations.
  • Act as the embedded PgM for complex comms programs (e.g., Stripe Sessions, the Annual Letter) from planning through execution, translating fast-moving initiatives into clear objectives, plans, milestones, and reporting.
  • Manage the team’s resourcing and budget management process including contracting, POs, payments, tracking and budget reporting.
  • Build and maintain reporting systems and data dashboards that track communications impact, media coverage, and operational efficiency, turning data into clear insights for decision-making.
