About The Position

The Communications Administrator for Mechanical Engineering contributes to and implements the Department of Mechanical Engineering’s multi-channel communications strategy, including ongoing maintenance of digital communication channels. This role carries significant responsibility for content creation, social media management, internal and external e-newsletter production, internal communications, and brand consistency, working with limited supervision from the Communications Manager. The position will collaborate with the Web Manager and Senior Producer/Creative Lead to ensure timely and accurate delivery of digital content and will contribute to the coordinated work of the Digital Strategy group.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, English, journalism, marketing, or related field
  • Minimum of three years' experience in communications, marketing, or a closely related role
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with demonstrated ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences and channels
  • Experience with social media content creation, scheduling tools, and analytics platforms
  • Experience with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp or Salesforce Marketing Cloud
  • Demonstrated design skills and proficiency with editing and design tools like Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, or Canva
  • Experience with web content management systems like WordPress or Drupal
  • Interest in understanding and implementing AI-based workflows, with appropriate safeguards/transparency, for content creation, platform engagement, and work process management
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an academic or research environment with a focus on engineering and technology
  • Experience with HTML and CSS
  • Photography or video production experience
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards for digital content (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines)
  • Experience with SEO best practices
