About The Position

The primary purpose of the Commodity Specialist is to monitor our manufacturers’ commodity diversions and achieve at least an 85-90% drawdown of the commodity pounds that were diverted per manufacturer in each state.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail/accuracy and multi-tasking skills.
  • Maintain high-level of professionalism and ability to maintain integrity and confidentiality.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel & Outlook.
  • Highly concentrated mental and visual alertness.
  • A major portion of day is spent sitting and talking.
  • Frequent up/down motion to perform duties.
  • Moderate to heavy typing, calculating or otherwise working with fingers.
  • Visual acuity.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of USDA Commodity/FNS helpful

Responsibilities

  • Access the commodity tracking systems (currently K-12 and Processor Link) on a regular basis per manufacturer, per state and monitor drawdowns of balances.
  • Verify the correct distributor and contact information is listed for each Recipient Agency on these websites.
  • Contact any Recipient Agency who is not within a range of par on drawdown percentage or has no drawdown.
  • Provide SEPDS, commodity order forms, commodity calculators and to Recipient Agencies as requested or as needed.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with commodity contacts at the manufacturers, distributors and at the state level.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships and open communications with the Education Specialists regarding their accounts.
  • Provide monthly recap reports to the K12 Specialists with drawdown balances per manufacturer in each state.
  • Provide any commodity reporting or information when requested from manufacturers.
  • Ensure commodity pounds/dollars are available for order fulfillment.
  • Enter/process commodity orders as needed/required.
  • Consolidate orders to make truckload shipments while maintaining requested delivery weeks/months to many different shipping locations.
  • Provide manufacturer commodity information to state RA’s early in their diversion process.
  • Establish and maintain an updated contact list of RA’s per state.
