About The Position
As Commodity Accountant, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate completion of the analysis and reporting of accounting activities for the Grain division.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, with a concentration in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Knowledge of hedging and future markets
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 Application Suite, with advanced skills in Excel
- Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational and time-management skills
Nice To Haves
- CPA designation or enrollment in a CPA program is considered an asset
- Experience in commodity accounting and/or grain accounting is an asset
Responsibilities
- Conduct month-end commodity profit and loss analysis, including CAD functional and USD functional commodities
- Provide timely analysis and communication of commodity P&L results to grain traders
- Analyze commodity-related expenses and freight execution costs to identify variances, trends and cost drivers
- Complete monthly accounting reconciliations
- Prepare and review monthly reports across various systems to support business operations and decision-making.
- Prepare and post manual journal entries in a timely and accurate manner.
- Complete monthly account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Assist with external financial reporting requirements.
