About The Position

Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide professional non-partisan services to support the democratic institution of Parliament and its members through procedural advice, administrative support and information services. The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies. The Parliamentary Committees Office department is seeking an analytical, impartial, and organized individual for the regular full-time position of Committee Researcher. The Committee Researcher provides non-partisan research, analysis and communication support for parliamentary committees, Presiding Officers, and the Legislative Assembly Administration. This includes preparing backgrounders and briefing materials, summarizing input from committee inquiries, and drafting communications products.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in public administration, political science, or a related program.
  • At least two years of relevant experience (within the past five years) or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Preparing clear, concise written materials.
  • Supporting senior officials on complex or multifaceted issues.
  • Gathering, synthesizing, and presenting information from a variety of sources to inform decision-making.
  • At least 16 years old and eligible to work in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a parliamentary or public sector environment is considered an asset.
