About The Position

Kent is looking for a Commissioning System Owner to be based in Anchorage, Alaska. You will steward, execute, and coordinate commissioning planning and execution activities to ensure project success and operational readiness. This role requires collaboration with multiple disciplines and contractors to meet quality and safety standards. You will liaise with the Project Management Team, Contractor & SU/Ops discipline leads.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualification with 10+ years of relevant and transferable Project/Engineering/Commissioning experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of Systems Completion standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria.
  • Experience commissioning projects in extremely cold-weather conditions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proven strong technical skills in subject matter.
  • Strong understanding of work planning, scheduling and tracking.
  • Exposure to Oil Company practices, processes, and expectations with respect to Systems Completion, Preservation, Commissioning and Start Up operations.
  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
  • Communicate effectively within a project team and with project management, contractors, and sub-contractors.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong and good relationship with company and client personnel.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic with a pragmatic approach.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and tactically, balancing these as workload changes.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate strong HSSE leadership and consistently promote safe behaviors.
  • Ensure safety expectations are clearly communicated, implemented, and maintained.
  • Comply with all company, client, and regulatory HSSE, sustainability, and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, and vendors to align commissioning activities with the project schedule.
  • Manage interfaces between stakeholders to ensure clear, timely communication.
  • Plan and attend FATs, maximizing commissioning scope completion at fabrication yards.
  • Review contractor plans, challenge assumptions, and maintain awareness of critical paths, sequencing, and risks.
  • Proactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain schedule performance.
  • Develop project-specific commissioning plans and contribute to procedures in coordination with CSU leads.
  • Review and approve commissioning procedures and ensure compliance during execution.
  • Define system boundaries, allocate systems/subsystems, and assign A/B/C check sheets.
  • Conduct and support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities across all disciplines (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control).
  • Review ITPs, FAT procedures, vendor packages, and commissioning documentation; provide feedback to stakeholders.
  • Ensure test records, as-builts, and handover documentation are complete and accurate.
  • Support data validation and population of the Completions Management System.
  • Maintain accurate records of commissioning activities and generate reports for stakeholders.
  • Support walkdowns, acceptance, turnover, and startup readiness with operations teams.
  • Ensure proper discipline and cross-functional participation during system handover.
  • Facilitate smooth transition of systems from commissioning to operations.
  • Provide training to operations personnel on commissioned systems.
  • Monitor punch list quality and drive timely close-out of A & B items.
  • Maintain oversight of inspections, tests, and commissioning activities (e.g., leak tests, loop checks, function testing).
  • Identify and resolve technical issues and system deficiencies.
  • Assess resource needs (personnel, tools, equipment, spares) and ensure competency standards are met.
  • Collaborate closely with project teams, vendors, and clients to ensure safe and efficient startup.
  • Provide regular updates on commissioning progress and address stakeholder concerns.
  • Perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management, within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role.
