About The Position

The HIDI Group is seeking a Commissioning Specialist to join their multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm. This role involves ensuring building systems perform as intended from design through occupancy, acting as a trusted advisor to clients, and collaborating with project teams. The ideal candidate enjoys solving technical challenges and working directly in the field.

Requirements

Minimum 3 years of commissioning experience within the building consulting or engineering industry.
College diploma or university degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Building Sciences, or a related discipline.
Strong understanding of HVAC, mechanical, and building systems.
Working knowledge of applicable building codes, ASHRAE guidelines, and LEED commissioning requirements.
Excellent technical writing, reporting, and communication skills.
Strong project management, organizational, and time management abilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience managing technical documentation.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Comfortable working on active construction sites and in mechanical spaces.
Willingness to travel throughout the GTA, Ontario, and occasionally out of province as project needs require.
Ability to obtain Government of Canada security clearance.

Responsibilities

Manage commissioning projects from planning through project closeout.
Coordinate and execute commissioning activities for new and existing buildings.
Conduct site inspections, functional performance testing, and system verification.
Troubleshoot building systems and provide practical recommendations to optimize performance.
Prepare commissioning plans, reports, deficiency logs, and project documentation.
Work closely with owners, contractors, architects, engineers, and building operators throughout all project phases.
Perform building condition assessments and infrastructure reviews as required.
Monitor project schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful project execution.
Support proposal preparation and contribute to developing long-term client relationships.
Assist in developing and improving commissioning procedures, templates, and reporting tools.
