About The Position

IMEG is hiring a Commissioning Project Authority in Columbus, OH, to perform the full range of commissioning responsibilities on moderate size and complexity building projects, or in a supporting role to senior staff on larger, more complex building projects. In this role, you'll develop commissioning plans and specifications, complete web-based project management and documentation in Cx Alloy, and lead design reviews, site observations, and commissioning meetings. You'll support functional testing, issue management, reporting, and post-occupancy follow-up while coordinating with clients, contractors, owners, and multidisciplinary teams. The team supports commissioning and building systems work across healthcare, education, government, transportation, industrial, hospitality, and commercial markets, helping owners achieve building performance goals and support efficient, reliable operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
  • 5 years of experience minimum required, 6 preferred, in Commissioning or in the Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (MEP) consulting industry, or equivalent
  • 9 years of experience minimum required, 10 preferred, in Commissioning or in the Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (MEP) design consulting industry, or equivalent
  • Strong oral and written skills and a proven ability to interact professionally with a wide a range of clients
  • Solid understanding of HVAC and electrical system designs and operations
  • Working knowledge of building automation and lighting control systems
  • Working knowledge of Cx Industry Standards (ASHRAE, ACG, BCxA) and code requirements
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (CEC Title 24, ASHRAE, IECC, IMC, NEC, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand construction documents (mechanical, controls, plumbing, and electrical drawings, specifications, etc. )
  • Proficient understanding of electrical and fire/life safety systems
  • Knowledge of construction industry safety practices and procedures
  • Troubleshooting of field devices and control hardware and software
  • Capable of self-performing functional testing of building MEP systems
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Skilled with PDF editors (Bluebeam, Adobe), plus additional online project management software
  • Ability to travel up to 30% (travel will depend on project needs and may vary widely)

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred
  • Recognized Building Commissioning Certification preferred (or ability and desire to obtain one)

Responsibilities

  • Manage and support multiple commissioning projects, including client interface, team coordination, schedule management, and budget management
  • Support construction and renovation commissioning projects in collaboration with senior commissioning staff
  • Perform commissioning reviews of construction documents and equipment submittals
  • Develop commissioning plans, reports, pre-functional checklists, and functional performance test procedures
  • Complete web-based project management and documentation in Cx Alloy
  • Assist with and self-perform functional testing of building MEP systems with contractors and owners
  • Track issues through project closeout and support reporting and post-occupancy follow-up activities
  • Perform technical analysis of building operation, including controls and sequences
  • Conduct jobsite field observations, write detailed field reports, and lead commissioning meetings
  • Contribute to improving commissioning processes and best practices
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions aligned to project goals
  • Mentor and develop less-experienced employees in a team-based atmosphere
