About The Position

Hatch is seeking a Commissioning Intern to join the Business Practices Consulting group. This role will support offices globally while working from our Pittsburgh, PA office location. The intern will contribute to the CORE initiative, which focuses on verifying technical readiness and ensuring organizational preparedness for projects to achieve nameplate value and deliver peak asset performance. This is an in-office environment that values in-person interaction and collaboration, though flexibility for remote work is provided when needed. Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, computer, mechanical, chemical, or process engineering
• Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Effective report writing skills, planning and organizational skills
• Willingness to travel to various Hatch offices, project, and supplier sites subject to project requirements

Nice To Haves

• Experience using Visio or similar tools to communicate commissioning sequence, organizational charts, and workflow processes is an asset
• Previous co-op or internship experience in project execution, commissioning, or construction on industrial projects is considered an asset

Responsibilities

• Support commissioning planning and setup activities
• Provide technical support for testing and data collection during the pre-commissioning and commissioning phase of the project
• Assist in technology development initiatives in the group, including investigating alternate and supporting commissioning software
• Support technology initiatives to improve the efficiency of the commissioning process and provide a different perspective on approaches to execution
• Assist in the development of test plans and commissioning procedures
• Participate in field testing and troubleshoot/optimize equipment that is not performing
• Process the test results, data collection, progress measurement, and documentation of results
• Support development of commissioning estimates, budgets, forecasts, schedules, commissioning proposals, and presentations
• Coordinate with construction planning team to align commissioning systems with construction work packages, engineering, and procurement
• Review P&IDs, Flow Diagrams, Single Line Diagrams, Network Architecture Drawings, and engineering registers to prepare an execution plan and estimate to execute pre-commissioning and commissioning services and identify opportunities for project acceleration
• Assist in establishing the commissioning requirements for pre-fabrication and modularization
• Perform assignments related to your sector
• Assist with preparation of detailed design for projects
• Support preparation of drawings from detailed notes and specifications
• Coordination with other technicians/engineers on projects
• Provide support to Senior Engineers and Designers as and when needed
