About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring the cloud runs smoothly. This involves supporting all AWS data centers and the associated servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. The team comprises diverse professionals including software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. They collaborate across AWS to maintain high standards of safety and security while delivering scalable capacity at the lowest cost. As a Data Center Commissioning Engineer (CxE), you will be part of a creative and efficient team focused on building and supporting Amazon-owned data centers. The Amazon Commissioning team (ACx) evaluates and defines construction quality in accordance with engineering designs to meet customer requirements. The CxE supports vendors, contractors, and other teams involved in the construction and commissioning of various critical systems.

Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems experience
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• NETA or ASHRAE certification or commissioning specific education courses
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers
• U.S Citizenship Required

• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
• Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
• Experience using a variety of web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing

Responsibilities

• Review design documents, lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT), and manage third-party commissioning vendors in the performance of onsite pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing.
• Take ownership of project successes by resolving technical issues and addressing schedule and coordination demands.
• Communicate lessons learned and collaborate on program improvements.
• Provide multi-discipline input into the scheduling, test script development, designing, and planning of projects.
• Review component submittal packages, lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT), and perform system level and integrated system testing.
• Audit commissioning activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements.
• Provide comprehensive weekly reporting of status for all ongoing projects and lessons learned.
• Coordinate site activities, prioritize tasks, and ensure issues have a clear path to resolution.
• Manage the project commissioning vendor to identify issues, determine criticality, propose solutions, and document findings.
• Escalate project turnover risks to appropriate stakeholders.
• Communicate lessons learned to peers and participate in initiatives to improve the commissioning program.
