About The Position

The Commissioning Engineer supports the planning, execution, and documentation of commissioning activities to ensure electrical systems meet project requirements, safety standards, and industry codes. This role is responsible for tracking inspections, maintaining accurate documentation, and coordinating with technicians, subcontractors, vendors, and testing agencies. The Commissioning Engineer plays a key role in documenting and verifying testing activities, uploading reports into commissioning software, and ensuring that all commissioning milestones are completed accurately and on schedule. The ideal candidate combines technical knowledge of electrical systems with strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills to support project delivery and quality objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • NETA certification or direct experience managing/reviewing NETA test reports
  • Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud Build, Egnyte, or other commissioning/document control platforms
  • Previous internship, co-op, or project engineering experience in commissioning or electrical construction
  • Strong understanding of commissioning workflows, test procedures, and electrical systems
  • Ability to maintain accurate and complete inspection records, test logs, and commissioning reports
  • Ability to interpret test data, identify issues, and support corrective actions
  • Ability to ensure inspections, reports, and system updates are precise and compliant
  • Skilled in CX Alloy, MS Office, and other commissioning software platforms
  • Ability to work effectively with project managers, supers, vendors, NETA testers, and QC/QA staff
  • Ability to help schedule technicians, inspections, and testing to keep commissioning on track
  • Ability to anticipate commissioning issues and support solutions that minimize delays and costs
  • Ability to ensure all commissioning activities follow company standards, safety requirements, and industry codes

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage QC/QA/CX documentation, including inspection records, NCRs, reports, and pre-energization checklists
  • Track quality activities and testing progress in CX Alloy, ensuring all required information is uploaded, updated, and accurate
  • Review NETA reports, upload results into CX Alloy, and follow up with testers to confirm completion
  • Monitor open issues and NCRs, track resolutions, and communicate status updates to project teams
  • Support scheduling and coordination of QC/QA/CX technicians and external testers
  • Prepare daily and weekly quality reports, summaries, and root cause analyses for leadership review
  • Ensure proper labeling, document control, and version management for all project quality files
  • Provide administrative support for inspections (2.1, 2.2) by logging, tracking, and distributing documentation
  • Communicate quality control requirements and documentation needs to internal teams, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Assist with training coordination and documentation for QC/QA/CX staff and construction teams
  • Perform other duties as assigned
