About The Position

Glumac, a Tetra Tech company, is seeking a Commissioning Authority to join their world-class Commissioning Team in San Francisco, CA. This role is an opportunity to be part of a global leader in building engineering focused on climate change solutions through decarbonization, electrification, and resilient design. Commissioning is a quality assurance process that ensures systems and components are installed and operate as intended, benefiting building and infrastructure owners. This role involves both office and field work, including hands-on testing of systems to improve building performance, energy efficiency, reliability, and occupant comfort. The Glumac Commissioning Team specializes in providing high-quality commissioning services, with over 30 full-time staff working on projects such as LEED Cx, Title 24 Cx, retro-commissioning, energy studies, measurement and verification, and ongoing commissioning. They collaborate with clients from design through move-in and beyond, engaging owners, design teams, contractors, and building operators to achieve project goals across diverse market sectors including commercial, high-tech, healthcare, education, government, and infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s/Doctoral degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of related industry experience.
  • ANSI/ISO Accreditation Cx Certification (BCxA CCP, ACG CxA, ASHRAE BCxP)
  • Strong knowledge of MEP system design and operation, controls, and instrumentation.
  • Project management expertise, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.
  • Strong client-facing and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to climb ladders/stairs and lift/carry loads above 20 lbs.
  • Ability to be on a job site for extended periods (8-10 hours).
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed, approximately 20%25.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance.
  • Must be located in and eligible to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional licensure (PE license, Energy Management, or TAB certifications) is a plus.
  • Experience with commissioning software or ongoing commissioning tools.
  • Experience with mechanical and/or controls.
  • Experience with mission-critical and life sciences projects.
  • Electrical experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field functional testing.
  • Create pre-functional and functional checklists.
  • Lead commissioning meetings and manage the commissioning process for assigned projects.
  • Perform field observations and document test results.
  • Maintain issue resolution logs and compile commissioning reports.
  • Assist with project management duties as needed.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.
