About The Position

Flour Bakery + Cafe is looking for a Production Support Shift Lead for their commissary kitchen, referred to as the Big Kitchen (BK). This role supports the BK Production Savory + Support Chefs by ensuring daily production list items are completed, assisting with daily tasks, maintaining standards, and guiding the team. The Shift Lead also prioritizes tasks, communicates timing issues, assists coworkers, and oversees operations in the absence of the Production Support Chef.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all prep list items on the daily production list are completed.
  • Assisting Chefs with daily tasks.
  • Maintaining standards set by the Chefs and following through with the team.
  • Prioritizing items each day based on production needs.
  • Communicating any issues with timing to appropriate team members.
  • Assisting all coworkers within the kitchen.
  • Adjusting to different workload needs when necessary.
  • Overseeing the operations of the team in the absence of the Production Support Chef.
  • Providing support for coworkers to ensure prep is done efficiently.
  • Assisting Chefs with inventory counts of food.
  • Sharing operational feedback regarding quality, vendor concerns, and teamwork.
  • Following all recipes and techniques in pastry and savory food preparation.
  • Monitoring ingredient quality from vendors and performing 'Mom tests'.
  • Providing constructive feedback as needed.
  • Handling food and cleaning stations per standard sanitation procedures.
  • Assisting with kitchen upkeep and deep cleaning tasks when the production list is complete.
  • Assisting with verifying locations for BK orders.
  • Maintaining an orderly and clean kitchen.
  • Checking in each day when arriving and leaving with the Production Shift Leader or Production Chef.
  • Inventorying finished product and writing appropriate prep lists that meet all finished good pars.
  • Leading the team in the absence of the Production Support Chef.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
