About The Position

FNF is seeking a motivated and experienced Commercial Underwriter to support its Commercial office. This role reviews, revises, and produces title commitments, pro forma policies, and final title policies for commercial properties in Arizona. The Commercial Underwriter analyzes title and legal issues, evaluates due diligence materials, mitigates underwriting risk, and collaborates with colleagues and transaction parties to support successful commercial real estate closings.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with real estate law, including basic applicable state real estate regulations.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures related to real estate title processes.
  • Significant experience producing and revising title commitments and pro forma policies for commercial properties.
  • Ability to read and plot metes and bounds legal descriptions.
  • Ability to review ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys and organizational documents.
  • Proficiency with SoftPro, Data Trace, TitlePoint, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, problem-solving, and business judgment skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to present alternative solutions and communicate difficult information with tact.
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and provide timely follow-up.
  • Ability to collaborate, act decisively, build effective internal and external relationships, and contribute as an integral member of a team.

  • Commercial title underwriting experience involving complex commercial real estate transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Review, revise, and produce title commitments, pro forma policies, and final title policies for commercial properties in Arizona.
  • Review transaction documents, title objection letters, organizational documents, and American Land Title Association/National Society of Professional Surveyors (ALTA/NSPS) Land Title Surveys.
  • Analyze legal and title issues associated with commercial real estate transactions and develop solutions that appropriately mitigate underwriting risk.
  • Act as an underwriting point person on commercial transactions, including reviewing title insurance commitments, incorporating surveys and other due diligence materials into risk assessments, managing client communications and negotiations, and issuing policies.
  • Review organizational documents to determine authorized signers.
  • Read and plot metes and bounds legal descriptions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and transaction parties to identify practical, solution-oriented approaches to commercial real estate matters.
  • Provide clear, professional, and positive direction through verbal and written communication with parties involved in commercial real estate transactions.
  • Monitor, prioritize, and follow up on assigned work to maintain a high level of productivity, quality, and timely service.
  • Use SoftPro, Data Trace, TitlePoint, and Microsoft Outlook in support of title production, research, communication, and workflow management.
