Analyzes and evaluates customer credit information for new and renewal credit requests within the Native American Banking and Gaming business line. This includes working capital lines of credit, asset-based lines of credit, commercial real estate loans (Owner Occupied and Investor), equipment financing, governmental obligations, tax revenue financings, and gaming and other tribal enterprise financings. The role primarily focuses on moderate-to-complex governments and enterprises with revenues generally greater than $5 million. The Commercial Underwriter collaborates with other team members to prepare timely, high-quality, and concise credit recommendations needed to obtain credit approval and meet customer needs. This involves analyzing business, industry, and financial data, presenting findings, and collaborating with Portfolio Managers, CSMs, and Commercial Relationship Managers to identify key business and financial risks. The role also requires preparing accurate credit recommendations with normal supervision, including quantitative analysis, risk rating, identification and mitigation of policy exceptions, and accurate loan coding. Additionally, the underwriter monitors borrower financial performance, ensures financial statements are spread correctly, and collaborates on resolving covenant violations. The position involves partnering with relationship managers on customer calls, offering insights into financial needs, and following up to obtain necessary information. The role also requires demonstrating compliance with all bank regulations and policies, maintaining knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act and other relevant regulations, and potentially coaching or mentoring others. The underwriter is expected to actively learn and foster the Columbia corporate culture, demonstrate initiative, and serve as a positive example.
