About The Position
McMahon’s Best-One is a family-owned company with over 50 years of business in Fort Wayne. We are committed to our customers, the services we provide, our local community, and our employees. We are currently seeking a Commercial Truck/Trailer Mechanic to join our team. This role involves performing services and repairs on commercial customer vehicles and trailers.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years working as a diesel or heavy trailer technician.
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications (specifically T-series for medium/heavy trucks)
- DOT air brake certification is preferred but not necessary.
- Clean and Valid driver's license required
- A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL Class A) is highly preferred for test-driving equipment and operating mobile service units.

- Fabrication and welding experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform services and repairs on commercial customer vehicles and/or trailers.
- Engine diagnostics
- Engine systems
- Charging and starting systems
- Cooling systems
- HVAC systems
- Driveline systems
- Steering systems
- Air and air brake systems
- Hydraulic systems
- 12v electrical systems
- Suspension systems
- Wheel end systems
- Coupling systems
- Perform general maintenance procedures including DOT inspections and Oil & lube services
- Perform trailer air and air brake systems repairs
- Perform trailer body repairs such as side panels, radius panels, side rails, swing/overhead door, etc.
- Perform trailer hydraulic systems repairs
- Perform trailer 12v electrical systems repairs
- Perform trailer suspension systems repairs
- Perform trailer wheel end systems repairs
- Perform trailer coupling systems repairs
- Perform general maintenance procedures including DOT inspections for trailers
- Fabrication and welding
- On occasion, work outdoors or on customer’s job site and do service calls.
- Read ticket and perform work listed; write confirmation and recommendation.
- All other duties as assigned.
