About The Position

The Commercial Summer Internship Program is designed to give interns a look at Citizens Bank’s culture and exposure into one of the many commercial banking business lines through project-based assignments, learning curriculum, networking, volunteer opportunities and formal mentorship. Responsibilities will vary based on the group you’re assigned to and will leverage your unique skills and abilities. At the conclusion of the program, high-performing interns will receive early consideration for full-time opportunities within the line of business in which they completed their summer internship. Opportunities Within Commercial Banking, there are two opportunities in Chicago: Asset Finance and Mid Corp PM. The Asset Finance team provides loans and leases secured by equipment and other fixed assets, helping companies with annual revenues exceeding $50 million finance capital investments while managing cash flow, taxes, and balance sheet strategies. You will support Portfolio Managers, Credit Analysts, and Relationship Managers in underwriting transactions, monitoring loan portfolios, conducting financial and industry analysis, and preparing credit approval materials and client presentations. The role also offers exposure to client interactions, market research, and commercial banking team activities, providing a comprehensive understanding of equipment finance and asset-based lending. For Mid Corp PM, you will work alongside Portfolio Managers, Credit Analysts, and Relationship Managers to support loan underwriting, portfolio monitoring, and business development efforts for commercial banking clients. Responsibilities include conducting financial and credit analysis, preparing financial models and credit approval materials, monitoring client reporting and covenant compliance, performing industry and market research, and participating in client meetings, team discussions, and special projects to gain broad exposure to commercial banking and relationship management.

Current students enrolled in an undergraduate bachelor’s program, graduating between Winter 2027 – Spring 2028 OR current students enrolled in a graduate program, graduating between Winter 2027 – Spring 2028.
Minimum GPA of 3.2.
Strong analytical skills.
Software skills: MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) proficiency is required.
Candidates must currently be a U.S. Resident to be eligible for this program.
Candidates must have permanent authorization to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.5.
Relevant work experience, leadership experience or coursework in Finance, Accounting or Economics is preferred but all majors will be considered.
