About The Position

This is a newly created role at Greenstone Meats, representing an evolution in how the company approaches commercial intelligence and sales partnership. The role is designed for a commercially minded strategist who bridges data, customer relationships, and marketing execution to enhance the effectiveness of the sales team. The Commercial Strategy Manager will act as a liaison between Marketing, Sales, and customers (retail and foodservice), translating market intelligence into actionable tools for the sales team, identifying new opportunities, and serving as a strategic marketing partner for private label programs with retail customers.

Requirements

  • 6 to 8 years of experience in a commercial, insights, or strategy role within CPG, food, or protein industries.
  • Background straddling sales strategy and marketing.
  • Demonstrated experience translating syndicated data and consumer research into commercial recommendations that drove measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience working directly with retail or foodservice customers in a commercial or customer marketing capacity.
  • Commercially fluent: thinking in terms of revenue, margin, and customer value.
  • A distiller, not an elaborator: making complex information simple and actionable.
  • A genuine partner to Sales: understanding how sales teams operate and what they need.
  • Proficient with syndicated data platforms: Circana, Nielsen, Homescan, Numerator, and able to build performance views independently.
  • Strong communicator who can present to senior leadership and sales teams with clarity and confidence.
  • Collaborative and coachable: building alignment across functions and adapting approach based on feedback.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a Nielsen, IRI, Circana, or similar insights organization is strongly preferred.
  • Category management at a CPG company is strongly preferred.
  • Exposure to private label commercial dynamics is a strong asset.
  • Experience in both Canadian and US retail markets is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Translate Circana, Nielsen, retailer POS, and consumer research into short, sharp, commercially actionable tools.
  • Partner with the Sales team to build customer-specific intelligence packages for key account meetings, category reviews, and Joint Business Partner (JBP) conversations.
  • Develop performance intelligence infrastructure across brands, SKUs, and key accounts, providing a clear, ongoing view of performance, reasons, and recommended actions.
  • Identify white space opportunities in grass-fed meat and emerging consumer segments across retail and foodservice channels.
  • Support both retail and foodservice Sales with market intelligence calibrated to how each channel operates.
  • Act as the marketing counterpart to retail customer marketing teams for private label programs, fostering genuine commercial partnership.
  • Bring category intelligence, consumer insights, and shopper data to customer conversations to help retailers grow their private label meat programs with Greenstone Meats.
  • Develop private label program recommendations grounded in category data and consumer understanding.
  • Work with Sales to build the commercial case for private label program expansions, new SKU introductions, and promotional investment.
  • Lead the consumer insights agenda for the North American business.
  • Translate consumer and shopper findings into actionable commercial recommendations for brand strategy, sales programs, and innovation.
  • Ensure consumer understanding is embedded in commercial decision-making and actively shapes go-to-market strategies.
  • Partner with Marketing Specialists in Canada and the US to apply consumer insight to brand execution and customer-facing tools.
  • Serve as the commercial intelligence hub for Marketing and Sales, connecting data, consumer understanding, and market dynamics.
  • Participate in JBP planning and customer strategy conversations alongside Sales, providing market and consumer context.
  • Contribute to the annual marketing and commercial planning process with insight-driven strategic recommendations.
  • Build repeatable systems and tools to improve the speed and quality of commercial decision-making across the organization.
