About The Position

As the Commercial Shipping Analyst for the Crude market, you will provide market data, analysis and insights and help identify prospective new business opportunities. You will analyse shipping market trends and economic data, prepare market commentary and analysis for existing and prospective clients, and provide brokers and clients with accurate, timely information to support decision-making. The role also maintains databases and presentation materials, responds to ad hoc analytical requests, and contributes to improvements in internal systems, data collection and analysis delivery.

Requirements

• Proven market analysis experience within the shipping industry.
• Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint and Word.
• Highly numerate, with strong analytical skills.
• Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to analyse large amounts of data quickly and accurately.
• Demonstrable analytical and report-development abilities.
• Logical thinking, curiosity and resourcefulness to identify important information and communicate it to relevant audiences.
• Ability to translate complex data and themes into clear, accessible analysis for relevant audiences.
• Extensive experience delivering presentations.
• Organised, able to multitask and work to tight deadlines.
• Commercially minded, with the ability to produce work that adds value to existing client portfolios and supports showcasing services to prospective clients.
• Self-motivated, proactive and able to work autonomously.
• Ability to challenge and think laterally.
• Adaptable to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Identify and analyse shipping market trends and economic data to inform the market outlook.
• Produce reports and presentations containing market commentary and analysis for existing and prospective clients.
• Remain alert to events and issues that may affect trade flows and take a proactive, strategic approach.
• Engage with and challenge brokers and clients.
• Provide brokers and clients with accurate, timely information to support informed decisions.
• Maintain key databases and presentation slide packs.
• Provide general assistance with ad hoc analytical requests.
• Identify ways to improve internal systems, data collection and delivery of analysis.
• Undertake additional ad hoc duties as required by the business.
