About The Position

The Estimator is responsible for bidding and selling roofing and waterproofing projects — preparing accurate, timely estimates, developing and maintaining strategic relationships, and collecting all data needed for accurate estimating.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • English fluency
  • OSHA 10-hour card
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to use/learn business technology
  • Leadership & management — sets expectations, delegates effectively, and develops team members' skills
  • Communication — conveys information clearly in writing and in person to audiences with differing styles
  • Financial acumen — understands budgets, cost implications, and profitability drivers relevant to the role
  • Customer relationship management — builds and maintains trusted relationships with clients and partners
  • Problem solving — gathers and analyzes information to resolve issues in a timely, non-blaming manner
  • Safety — promotes and enforces a strong safety culture in compliance with OSHA and company standards
  • Technology — proficient with company business systems (e.g., CenterPoint or similar construction management software) and standard office software
  • Roof system knowledge — ability to read/interpret blueprints and specifications; desire to stay current on codes

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate, competitive proposals and contracts
  • Review and understand scope of work and project specifications
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates
  • Compute cost factors and prepare estimates for planning, bidding, and vendor/subcontractor selection
  • Create and update projects in the estimating system, bid calendar, and document uploads
  • Develop labor estimates for potential jobs
  • Work closely with drafting and project management on required estimating services
  • Apply established labor and material markups for overhead and profit
  • Provide job packets to foremen to support safety, HazCom, specification, and labor expectations
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships
  • Consult with clients, vendors, and manufacturers to formulate estimates and resolve issues
  • Prepare bid documents and customer-facing materials in a timely manner
  • Identify material cost trends and pursue potential new business
  • Track, manage, and debrief projects
  • Analyze completed projects to compare estimated vs. actual costs and identify discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate, organized files and follow up on outstanding estimates
  • Process manufacturer warranties and assist production in scheduling and coordinating jobs
