About The Position

B&L Sheet Metal & Roofing, a Tecta America Company, is a leading commercial roofing contractor serving Bloomington and surrounding areas. We are known for quality workmanship, strong customer relationships, and delivering successful roofing projects. We are currently seeking a Commercial Roofing Estimator to join our team in Bloomington, IN. The Commercial Roofing Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and bid proposals for commercial roofing projects. This role works closely with customers, vendors, project teams, and management to evaluate project requirements, develop competitive bids, and support a successful handoff to operations once projects are awarded.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience in roofing estimating, construction estimating, or a related field.
Experience preparing bids, cost estimates, takeoffs, and project proposals.
Experience with Edge estimating software or similar estimating platforms.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
Strong math, measurement, and negotiation skills.
Knowledge of construction and business management practices.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
Ability to climb ladders and work at heights on job sites as needed.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

College degree preferred.
Bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

Prepare accurate roofing estimates and bid proposals.
Review plans, specifications, drawings, and other project documents.
Perform material takeoffs and labor calculations.
Track bids, project opportunities, awarded work, and bid results.
Evaluate project opportunities and help determine which projects are a good fit for the company.
Follow company processes from initial bid through project handoff.
Communicate with general contractors, building owners, vendors, subcontractors, and project teams.
Prepare bid letters, proposals, and supporting documentation.
Assist with vendor and subcontractor pricing.
Monitor actual project costs compared to estimated costs.
Maintain relationships with suppliers, contractors, and customers.
Participate in project handoff meetings and provide complete project documentation.
Support continuous improvement efforts and quality control initiatives.
Conduct job site visits as needed.
Assist team members with estimating-related tasks.
Perform other duties as assigned.
