About The Position

Manages and develops commercial loan accounts, which meet the established lending requirements while maximizing profitability and minimizing risk to the bank. Contributes to the growth and profitability of the bank through commercial relationships. This role involves supervising lending staff, negotiating credit terms, analyzing financial information, managing a loan portfolio, and actively engaging in business development and community relations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree from an accredited college with a concentration in accounting/finance preferred, or equivalent business-related experience.
  • Two to three years of commercial and consumer lending experience.
  • Proven knowledge of loan policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently, establish priorities and procedures, and meet established goals.
  • Proven ability to motivate staff in sales.
  • Strong personal leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex issues, both orally and written.

Responsibilities

  • Works with branch managers to determine business plans to reach area sales goals.
  • Promotes bank products and services to existing and potential commercial customers.
  • Services existing commercial loan accounts and expands relationships through cross-sells and referrals.
  • Assists in the implementation of new products or programs.
  • Achieves assigned sales, service, and retention goals.
  • Directly supervises lending assistants, administrative assistants, and customer service representatives.
  • Evaluates staff performance, prepares annual reviews, and conducts counseling sessions.
  • Supervises and trains staff on bank products and services, with an emphasis on commercial products.
  • Assists and advises staff regarding commercial lending policies and procedures.
  • Negotiates credit terms, including costs, repayment methods, and collateral specifications.
  • Monitors the credit quality of the personal loan portfolio.
  • Performs analysis of credit reports, tax returns, financial statements, and cash flows.
  • Conducts pricing analysis.
  • Develops referral sources for additional business.
  • Proactively notifies customers of upcoming loan maturities and renewals, ensuring timely documentation.
  • Serves on various committees as assigned.
  • Handles special programs such as Business Manager and Credit Card program.
  • Interviews loan applicants, analyzes financial information, and makes loan decisions.
  • Presents loan requests above lending authority to the loan review committee.
  • Services the loan portfolio in a manner consistent with sound banking practices and profitability.
  • Engages in outside activities consistent with the company's responsibilities in the community and industry.
  • Participates in the bank's officer call program and promotes bank services.
  • Makes business development calls on existing and prospective customers.
  • Tracks calls and pipeline in the contact management system.
  • Maintains an active role in community affairs to improve bank visibility.
  • Implements plans to reduce total past due loans and non-earning assets.
  • Works closely with the Collection Manager in the collection of delinquent and matured accounts.
  • Provides leadership and ensures effective communication between subordinates and superiors.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Interacts effectively with all levels of bank personnel.
  • Communicates efficiently with bank customers, management, and department heads.
  • Obtains specific goals related to production, quality, and growth (asset quality, loan and deposit growth, branch profitability, efficiency, business development).
  • Actively pursues new deposit and Treasury Management opportunities in the assigned market.
  • Participates in Loan Committee meetings when appropriate.
  • Maintains an excellent working relationship with loan support staff.
  • Responds to inquiries or refers them to the appropriate department or person, ensuring follow-through.
  • Performs all other duties assigned by supervisor.
