About The Position

The Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Credit Analyst 2 supports the underwriting and portfolio management of commercial real estate relationships, including Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), Real Estate Operating Companies (REOCs), and real estate investment funds. Working under the guidance of senior underwriting and portfolio management professionals, this role performs financial analysis, prepares credit-related materials, monitors portfolio performance, and assists with underwriting activities that support sound credit decisions. The Credit Analyst assists in underwriting activities for new loan requests, renewals, modifications, extensions, annual reviews, and ongoing portfolio monitoring. This position provides exposure to complex commercial real estate transactions while developing credit analysis, financial modeling, and portfolio management skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • More than one year of experience in a finance/analytical related role

Responsibilities

  • Analyze borrower and guarantor financial statements to evaluate operating performance, repayment capacity, and key credit metrics.
  • Assist in preparing written credit analyses and supporting documentation for new loan requests, renewals, modifications, and extensions.
  • Support risk rating assessments and transaction structuring analyses.
  • Perform underwriting analysis for commercial real estate transactions under the direction of senior underwriting professionals.
  • Gather, organize, and validate financial and credit information used in underwriting recommendations.
  • Support the ongoing management and monitoring of an assigned portfolio of commercial real estate relationships.
  • Assist with quarterly trend analyses, annual reviews, covenant compliance testing, and monitoring activities.
  • Track borrower financial reporting requirements and ensure information is received timely.
  • Maintain portfolio monitoring tools and compliance tracking databases.
  • Escalate potential credit concerns or exceptions to senior team members for review.
  • Complete financial statement spreading and maintain accurate financial reporting systems.
  • Analyze borrower performance, liquidity, leverage, cash flow, and debt service capacity.
  • Prepare financial models and reports that support underwriting and portfolio management activities.
  • Research market, industry, and borrower-specific trends impacting credit quality.
  • Maintain covenant monitoring and financial performance tracking tools
  • Partner with Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, and Underwriters to support customer relationships and transaction execution.
  • Collaborate with Credit Risk Management and other partners throughout the underwriting process.
  • Participate in internal discussions related to transaction structure, borrower performance, and portfolio monitoring.
  • Assist with preparing materials for credit approval and portfolio review discussions.
  • Input, spread, and analyze borrower financial statements.
  • Prepare financial models and underwriting support analyses in Excel.
  • Assist with quarterly monitoring reports, annual reviews, and trend analyses.
  • Conduct covenant compliance testing and financial performance tracking.
  • Maintain portfolio monitoring databases and reporting tools.
  • Support the preparation of credit approval packages and annual review materials.
  • Assist with underwriting activities related to new financing requests, renewals, modifications, and extensions.
