The Commercial Real Estate Credit Underwriter will be responsible for analyzing financial information of borrowers to determine appropriate credit levels, typically for relationships of $1 million and up. This role involves preparing detailed written presentations for new commercial loans and renewals, identifying strengths and weaknesses, assigning risk grades, and making recommendations for loan decisions. The underwriter will also conduct reviews of covenant compliance and periodic financial statements, interact with lenders and customers to evaluate creditworthiness, and participate in meetings regarding commercial loans. A key aspect of the role is to think independently and present data, conclusions, and recommendations, especially in situations without predefined policies or procedures, to proactively manage the bank's commercial loan portfolio and prevent potential issues like delinquency or collateral shortfalls.
