About The Position

GreenSpark Solar, a B Corporation committed to people and planet, is seeking experienced and safety-driven construction professionals for its Commercial Ground Mount Solar PV Installation team. This role involves supporting all aspects of commercial PV system construction, working collaboratively on-site in various weather conditions, often around heavy equipment. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and represents GreenSpark’s mission and culture. All positions require extended travel throughout New York and nearby states. Requirements

  • Previous experience in solar or electrical construction.
  • Knowledge of major PV system components and their functions.
  • Experience with installing and terminating MC-4 (or similar) connectors.
  • Experience with electrical trenching and conduit (EMT/PVC) installation.
  • Experience with reading string layouts, pulling, and terminating wire.
  • Basic understanding of NEC code.
  • Ability to take direction, work within a fast-paced crew environment, and perform physical tasks in adverse weather conditions.
  • 2–3 years of solar or related construction experience preferred (Level 2).
  • OSHA 10 certification required (Level 2).
  • Expert knowledge of large commercial PV systems, including ability to read and interpret blueprints (Level 3).
  • Ability to independently complete complex assignments with minimal supervision (Level 3).
  • Strong understanding of NEC code and its field application (Level 3).
  • Leadership experience in layout and construction of equipment pads and racking systems (Level 3).
  • 4+ years of solar or applicable electrical experience (Level 3).
  • OSHA 30 certification (required within 90 days of hire) (Level 3).

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 10 or 30 Certification
  • Completion of an Electrical Training Program or Certificate
  • Journeyman Certification
  • Ability to lift and move 60 lbs consistently
  • Electrical Journeyman License preferred, not required (Level 3).

Responsibilities

  • Support the installation of high-quality commercial PV systems in accordance with electrical codes, plans, schematics, and installation instructions.
  • Work safely and efficiently in diverse outdoor environments.
  • Follow all site safety protocols and contribute to a culture of safety.
  • Travel to various job sites, sometimes for extended periods.
  • Install and terminate MC-4 (or similar) connectors.
  • Perform electrical trenching and conduit (EMT/PVC) installation.
  • Read string layouts, pull, and terminate wire.
  • Commissioning tasks: insulation resistance testing, VOC testing, system troubleshooting, and accurate documentation of results.
  • Identify inefficiencies or safety issues and proactively resolve them.
  • Lead small crews and act as a site-based extension of the Lead Electrician to execute daily work plans.
