About The Position

The Property Accountant will be responsible for full cycle accounting and reporting of our diverse portfolio of clients. This role enables property managers and owners to make informed decisions that maximize value and performance of our properties. Through the delivery of accurate and timely financial insights and reporting, the property accounting team contributes to strong client relationships, informed leadership decision making and operational excellence, all in support of the overall strategic priorities of the Blackwood Property Management business. This is an onsite role located in our Toronto Real Estate office.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years' of work experience in commercial property accounting.
  • Property management accounting experience is a must.
  • Post-secondary accounting degree or CPA qualification;
  • Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word and accounting software packages;

Nice To Haves

  • YARDI experience an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Full cycle accounting, including preparing journal entries, income statement, balance sheet, bank reconciliation, recovery true-ups, variance analysis, GST returns, cash flow forecasts and other financial reporting analysis on monthly and quarterly basis;
  • Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly reports to client;
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of year end audit package requirements;
  • Assist in preparing year end tenant operating and tax reconciliations;
  • Assist in annual budgeting process for each of the properties under management;
  • Assist Property Management and other departments as requested with providing accurate/timely accounting information;
  • Other relevant and related responsibilities, as assigned and as the needs of the organization change.
