About The Position

Powerstaff is working with a well-regarded commercial General Contractor in Orange County, California to hire an experienced Project Manager. You'll lead projects from kickoff to handover in a fast-paced environment, keeping safety, schedule and budget on track across Retail, Healthcare and other commercial work.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience
  • Experience working for a Commercial General Contractor as a Project Manager
  • 3+ years in commercial construction project management, ideally on ground-up projects or Tenant Improvement
  • Solid knowledge of field operations, budgeting, scheduling and estimating, with a clear understanding of financial project responsibility
  • Clear communication with a diverse mix of internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Comfort working under pressure and juggling multiple priorities
  • Proficiency with project management software and the Microsoft Office suite

Nice To Haves

  • Retail or Healthcare project experience is well regarded but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Run every aspect of project execution, coordinating labor, equipment, subcontractors and material suppliers
  • Lead pre-job planning and run turnover meetings with internal teams and stakeholders
  • Build and maintain schedules, track critical path milestones and adjust the plan when needed
  • Set project budgets, manage cost codes and flag cost or schedule risks early
  • Administer contracts, issue subcontracts and purchase orders, and manage change orders with owners and trade partners
  • Make sure subcontractors and superintendents understand project requirements and their contractual obligations
  • Build strong relationships with owners, subcontractors and vendors and resolve issues quickly
  • Track material procurement, check vendor invoices and support timely billing and reporting
  • Mentor, train and oversee the Project Engineers on your project
  • Manage close-out, including final cost and labor reconciliation and reporting back to estimating and management

Benefits

  • A salary of $120k to $160k per year, depending on experience.
