The Commercial Portfolio Analyst plays a critical role in managing and analyzing a diverse portfolio of commercial assets to optimize financial performance and mitigate risk. Ultimately, the Commercial Portfolio Analyst contributes to sustaining profitability and enhancing the competitive positioning of the company’s commercial portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in commercial portfolio analysis, credit analysis, or financial analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling techniques.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with NCUA regulations, Reg B (ECOA), BSA/AML, and other applicable lending compliance requirements.
  • Working knowledge of SBA SOP requirements and USDA B&I guaranteed loan program requirements preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction loan draw processes, lien waivers, and title/inspection documentation preferred.
  • Strong financial statement analysis and spreading skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, examiners, and internal staff.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with core banking and loan servicing systems preferred.

  • Prior experience in commercial construction lending or SBA/USDA guaranteed lending programs.
  • Experience supporting regulatory examinations or internal/external loan audits.
  • Experience working within the banking or commercial lending industry.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements affecting commercial portfolios.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and monitor commercial loan portfolios to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and provide recommendations to support portfolio performance.
  • Prepare financial analyses, reports, forecasts, and presentations for management using financial models and market data.
  • Conduct portfolio reviews, stress testing, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Support commercial lending initiatives by evaluating new opportunities and maintaining accurate portfolio documentation.
  • Administer construction loan disbursements by reviewing draw requests, verifying required documentation, and coordinating with inspectors, title companies, and fund control providers.
  • Monitor project budgets, reserves, timelines, and borrower liquidity to ensure compliance with loan agreements and identify potential risks or funding issues.
  • Maintain construction loan records and draw schedules while communicating project status and exceptions to lending staff and management.
  • Serve as the primary contact for SBA borrowers, providing ongoing support throughout the life of the loan.
  • Process servicing requests, monitor compliance requirements, and prepare required reporting and documentation for SBA and USDA Business & Industry guaranteed loans.
  • Coordinate with government agencies, investors, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely servicing, reporting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support internal audits, loan reviews, regulatory examinations, and external audits by maintaining organized, audit-ready loan files and responding to documentation requests.
  • Assist in resolving audit findings and implementing corrective actions as needed.
