About The Position

RQ Construction, LLC is hiring several Commercial Pipefitters for its self-perform team on ongoing work at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia. The company specializes in fast-track commercial construction for public and private clients, with a primary focus on Department of Defense projects. Work is performed on the military base and paid at the Davis-Bacon prevailing wage for Naval Station Norfolk. Local candidates within a reasonable commute are encouraged to apply. The role involves planning, assembling, and installing piping systems on an active commercial construction site, including mechanical and underground piping. Pipefitters also support the startup and energizing of mechanical equipment such as boilers and chillers, and complete work to applicable codes and project specifications using appropriate tools and equipment. Employees are expected to follow RQ’s safety practices on every task. Candidates considered for hire must provide evidence of identity and U.S. work authorization and successfully pass drug screening and commercial criminal background checks, including a stricter Department of Defense background check for access to the military-base job site.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 4 years of journeyman-level pipefitting experience in commercial, industrial, or facilities operations settings.
Hands-on mechanical pipe installation experience.
Underground piping experience.
Startup and energizing experience with equipment such as boilers and chillers.
Current welding certification.
CPR, First Aid, and OSHA-10 certifications; training can be provided if these are not yet held.
Provide evidence of identity and U.S. work authorization at hire.
Pass drug screening and commercial criminal background checks, including a stricter Department of Defense background check for military-base access.

Nice To Haves

Government, military, or large commercial construction experience is preferred.
Valid pipefitter license or journeyman card is preferred.
Candidates local to Naval Station Norfolk within a reasonable commute are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
