About The Position

The Commercial Paralegal plays a pivotal role in supporting the commercial legal needs of a dynamic group of affiliated service companies operating across private, provider, and government funded markets. This role is well suited for a detail oriented, process driven legal professional who thrives at the intersection of contracts, legal operations, and cross functional business partnership. Working with a high degree of independence, the Commercial Paralegal supports the full contract lifecycle, contributes to the scaling and maturation of the legal function, and serves as a central coordination point for commercial sales and operations. Matters that fall outside established standards or present elevated risk are escalated to Commercial Counsel. In addition, the Commercial Paralegal helps maintain the tools, templates, and knowledge base that promote consistent, efficient decision making and effective contract lifecycle management. This role blends hands on commercial contracting with legal operations and process improvement, offering meaningful visibility into how the legal function enables and supports business growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, Business Administration, or a related field; Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred
  • 4-6+ years of experience supporting commercial contracting in-house and/or at a law firm (drafting, redlining, negotiation support, and contract administration) in a high-volume environment
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage the full contract lifecycle (intake through execution, storage, renewals/termination) for routine agreements within established guardrails, maintaining accurate contract records, summaries, and stakeholder-ready status reporting
  • Strong drafting, redlining, and issue-spotting skills using standard templates, playbooks, clause libraries, and checklists; exercises sound judgment to propose fallback language, identify nonstandard terms, and escalate elevated risk issues with clear context and recommendations
  • Proficiency with contract lifecycle management (CLM) and document tools (e.g., contract repositories, e-signature, redlining/version control) and strong command of Microsoft Office/Teams in a remote setting
  • Working knowledge of common commercial legal and compliance concepts (confidentiality, data protection/security, audit support); familiarity with healthcare/privacy frameworks (e.g., HIPAA/BAAs) a plus
  • Experience supporting healthcare-related commercial arrangements, including working with payers and/or government agencies (e.g., Medicaid/Medicare programs, state agencies) and navigating related contracting requirements
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and process driven; able to coordinate across Sales, Finance, Billing, Operations, and Compliance to remove friction, meet deadlines, and help drive process improvements (e.g., intake best practices, templates, reporting/metrics) across contracting workflows
