About The Position

tdgFacilities is a dynamic integrated facilities management company committed to excellence, integrity, and teamwork. Our team is seeking a skilled Commercial Overhead Door Technician with experience in installation, service, and repair of industrial and commercial door systems to service our customers in the Greater Cincinnati / Southwest Ohio region. This role is ideal for a technician with strong mechanical aptitude, electrical troubleshooting capability, and experience working with rolling steel doors, sectional doors, high-speed doors, dock equipment, door operators, and access systems. This is a field service role, focused on delivering high-quality work across commercial, industrial, institutional, and logistics facilities.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in: Commercial overhead door repair, Garage door installation (commercial/industrial), OR related trades (mechanical, electrical, millwright, facilities maintenance)
  • Strong knowledge of: Torsion spring systems and counterbalance systems, Commercial door operators (LiftMaster, Genie, etc.), Electrical troubleshooting (24V/120V/240V systems)
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work at heights (ladders, lifts)
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Willingness to work on-call / emergency service rotation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with rolling steel door repair, dock leveler service, or industrial door systems
  • Certifications such as: IDEA (Institute of Door Dealer Education and Accreditation), OSHA 10/30
  • Familiarity with: Access control systems and security integration, Welding / fabrication, Preventative maintenance programs for facilities
  • Experience in field service technician roles, mobile technician environments, or IFM (Integrated Facilities Management)

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, repair, and preventative maintenance on: Commercial sectional overhead doors, Rolling steel doors and grilles, High-speed / rapid roll-up doors, Loading dock equipment (levelers, seals, restraints)
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues
  • Repair or replace: Springs, cables, rollers, tracks, hinges, operators, and motors, Door openers, sensors, relays, and control panels
  • Conduct safety inspections and compliance checks (ANSI, OSHA, industry codes)
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Complete service documentation, work orders, and inspection reports
  • Maintain company vehicle, tools, and stocked inventory
  • Interface professionally with customers, site managers, and dispatch teams
