Our highly configurable and scalable tech stack also supports partner banking that enables companies to embed banking transactions into their customer online experience. Seattle Bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of Seattle Bancshares, Inc., a privately held bank holding company, and the creator of CD Valet, a digital marketplace for Certificates of Deposit. The Commercial Loan Team Manager leads the team responsible for managing, servicing, documenting, and closing commercial loans while overseeing a portfolio of high-value clients. This role provides leadership, credit and risk oversight, and operational direction to ensure accurate loan execution, strong portfolio performance, regulatory compliance, and responsive client service. The ideal candidate develops team members, improves processes, and promotes a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environment. This position is located in our downtown Seattle office and requires full-time, in-person work.

Requirements

Due to the collaborative nature of this position, it requires daily in-person work. After a 90-day training period, this position allows for one day of work from home each week.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field required
Minimum 5 years of commercial portfolio management experience required; 7+ years preferred
Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience required; 5+ years preferred
Prior experience supervising loan servicing or loan documentation teams preferred
Demonstrated experience reviewing commercial loan documents
Experience coordinating loan closings and working with external legal counsel
Experience with LaserPro strongly preferred
Experience using CRM and Loan Origination Systems (e.g., Pipedrive, CreditQuest, or similar)
Strong leadership and team development capabilities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to mentor and coach effectively
Deep understanding of commercial banking regulations, compliance, and audit processes
High attention to detail and strong risk awareness
Strong knowledge of loan closing processes and documentation standards
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
Strong collaboration skills and ability to work cross-functionally

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop Commercial Portfolio Managers and loan support staff.
Provide guidance on credit structuring, documentation, risk assessment, and client relationship management.
Set clear performance expectations, support professional development, and foster a collaborative, accountable, customer-focused team culture.
Oversee a commercial client portfolio, supporting strong performance, sound servicing, and risk mitigation.
Manage renewals, modifications, covenant tracking, delinquencies, and other servicing matters.
Partner with relationship managers, credit, and operations to ensure seamless portfolio support.
Oversee the preparation, review, documentation, and closing of commercial loans.
Ensure loan documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with internal and regulatory standards.
Review complex loan structures and coordinate closings, including satisfaction of funding conditions and engagement with legal counsel as needed.
Oversee financial analysis, due diligence, and risk assessment for commercial loan opportunities.
Ensure underwriting quality and alignment with credit policies and risk tolerance.
Partner with credit and risk teams to structure complex credit facilities.
Ensure portfolio management and loan operations comply with banking regulations, audit standards, and internal policies.
Serve as a liaison during audits and regulatory examinations.
Identify, escalate, and resolve findings, implementing corrective actions as needed.
Oversee loan documentation and workflow systems, including LaserPro, CRM, Pipedrive, and CreditQuest.
Ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and documentation throughout the loan lifecycle.
Implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and risk mitigation.
Develop strategies to optimize portfolio performance, growth, and profitability.
Monitor market, industry, and economic trends to identify risks and opportunities.
Align portfolio and operational goals with broader organizational objectives.
Build strong relationships with internal partners, external stakeholders, and legal counsel.
Serve as an escalation point for complex, sensitive, or high-risk issues.
Promote responsive, high-quality service to internal and external clients.
Physically attending work on a set and predictable schedule is an essential function of this job.
