About The Position

The Commercial Loan Officer will originate, manage, and supervise the Credit Union's portfolio of commercial and construction loans. The primary objective is to maintain and increase asset quality while developing new and existing business relationships. This role involves taking applications, assessing financial conditions, making underwriting decisions, and ensuring regulatory compliance throughout the loan lifecycle, particularly for construction projects. The officer will also monitor the existing loan portfolio, assist with collections, and provide support to members regarding loan-related inquiries.

Requirements

  • Experience in originating, managing, and supervising commercial and construction loans.
  • Ability to assess member financial conditions and repayment ability.
  • Underwriting decision-making skills within approval authority.
  • Proficiency in completing loan documentation and closing loans.
  • Experience in developing lending and deposit business.
  • Skills in client relationship management and prospect outreach.
  • Knowledge of construction lending processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to monitor and manage financial draws for construction projects.
  • Experience in monitoring loan portfolios for asset quality.
  • Proficiency in maintaining member files with financial statements and loan documentation.
  • Experience in assisting with the collection of past due loans.
  • Strong communication skills to assist members with loan-related questions.

Responsibilities

  • Takes applications for commercial loan business.
  • Reviews member financial condition and assesses the member's ability to re-pay the loan.
  • Makes underwriting decisions within approval authority.
  • Completes or directs completion of all loan documents and closes loans.
  • Participates in developing lending and deposit business for the Credit Union.
  • Calls on clients to expand existing business; calls on prospects seeking opportunities to expand the Credit Union's client base.
  • Monitors Construction Lending Process and Projects, insuring all regulatory requirements and time frames are met on assigned projects.
  • Monitors and manages all financial draws for Construction Projects, insuring all requirements have been met on time and work completed is as outlined in the business and development plans for assigned loans.
  • Monitors existing loan portfolio to maintain a high-quality asset base.
  • Maintains up-to-date member files including current balance sheets, profit & loss statements, cash flow projections and all loan documentation.
  • Assists in collection of past due loans.
  • Assists members with any loan-related questions and concerns.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
