Commercial Lines Underwriting Intern
About The Position
Michigan Millers is seeking a Commercial Lines Underwriting Intern to join the Commercial Lines Underwriting team as part of the Summer 2027 Internship Program. The company's growth, focus on innovation, transformation, and investments in the customer experience are key drivers supporting the expansion of its team. The Commercial Lines Underwriting Intern will provide support to a variety of projects and initiatives, while playing a key role in day-to-day operations. This role offers the opportunity to directly assist the Underwriting team with a wide range of projects related to the writing of Commercial Insurance policies. The Michigan Millers Intern Program is designed for individuals aiming to acquire valuable experience in the insurance industry, offering practical, hands-on opportunities and project work in partnership with underwriters. Interns will also have the opportunity to enhance their existing skill sets through professional development activities, cultivate relationships with employees and fellow interns, and participate in impactful volunteer initiatives within the community.
Requirements
- Completed two years of college preferred
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow established processes and procedures
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Intermediate experience with Word and Excel required
- Ability to work onsite at our corporate office in Lansing, MI
- Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
Responsibilities
- Learn about the Commercial Insurance industry, policy formation and agency partnerships
- Assist with the growth of our Region by ensuring policies are issued correctly
- Help with ongoing projects that help better serve our insureds and agents
- Gain experience in both responsibilities and have access to potential growth and career opportunities in the insurance industry

- Base pay of $19.00/hour
