About The Position

As a Commercial Lines Producer you will be accountable for proactive prospecting and solicitation of new accounts, while ensuring thorough risk assessment, surveying, fact-finding, and determination of exposures and coverages. Collaborate with the Account Executive and/or the Marketing Department (if applicable) to effectively market, analyze quotes, and successfully close sales. Strive to meet or surpass agency-identified goals for both new production and retention.

Requirements

  • College education or equivalent insurance experience.
  • Proficient communication skills, both verbally and in writing, to articulate complex issues, interpret information, and respond effectively.
  • Possession of Property, Casualty, Life, and Health Insurance License.
  • Adaptability to learn and adhere to established agency workflows, embracing changes as the agency evolves.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and updates to maintain a current knowledge of insurance products and industry trends.
  • Thorough knowledge of rating procedures, coverages, and industry operations to effectively manage, maintain, and write assigned client and prospect lists.
  • In-depth understanding of insurance markets and referencing markets.
  • Familiarity with insurance rating and underwriting procedures.
  • Proven ability to generate new business sales, retain existing business, and successfully close insurance sales.
  • Competence in utilizing computer programs with a clear understanding of their functionality.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, ability to drive a vehicle, visit clients, and make related calls as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and cultivate insurance prospects, exploring suitable markets for business development.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to referrals, ensuring a swift engagement process.
  • Prequalify insurance prospects for insurability and assess the quality of risk.
  • Develop and continually update comprehensive client or prospect lists for targeted outreach.
  • Design customized insurance plans, providing recommendations for optimal coverage to clients.
  • Conduct thorough surveys of loss exposures, needs, and identify potentially difficult-to-insure exposures for clients.
  • Collaborate with the Account Executive and/or Marketing Department (as applicable) to create compelling insurance proposals.
  • Deliver engaging sales presentations to both prospective and existing clients for new and renewal business.
  • Complete Quote Request Forms, Applications in EPIC, and Supplemental applications as needed, providing them to the Account Executive and/or Marketing Department (as applicable) for marketing to appropriate insurance markets.
  • Establish, follow, and achieve sales objectives, contributing to the overall success of the team.
  • Prepare, request, and deliver binders to insureds, ensuring a smooth transition into coverage.
  • Educate clients on agency payment expectations and cancellation procedures, fostering transparent communication.
  • Collect down payments from insureds for the purchase of new and upgraded coverages, obtaining signatures on all applications.
  • Acknowledge non-standard coverage limitations and binding restrictions, documenting them in files to minimize errors and omissions exposures.
  • Actively seek referrals from insureds to generate new business opportunities.
  • Articulates coverage details and exclusions, meticulously documenting explanations in the automated file for future reference.
  • Cultivates a profitable book of business for both the agency and carriers.
  • Collaborates with clients to ensure the adequacy of coverage limits.
  • Furnishes necessary information and clarifications about clients to company personnel, meticulously documenting transactions by date.
  • Communicates coverage options clearly to clients, sharing information and offering advice on insurance matters to comprehensively round out client accounts.
  • Conducts policy coverage reviews in partnership with Account Executives, ensuring at least annual upgrades and remarketing when necessary.
  • For large or significant accounts, an annual face-to-face review is mandatory, typically 60 to 120 days before renewal, to facilitate timely updates or remarketing.
  • Assists service staff in gathering client information for insurance schedules, summaries, and renewal proposals.
  • Scrutinizes policy change requests and other account activities, accurately documenting information in EPIC.
  • Utilizes each client interaction as an opportunity for coverage review and marketing of necessary coverage.
  • Advises and supports insureds in implementing loss control programs independently and collaboratively with company loss control staff.
  • Contacts insureds to aid Account Executives/Account Managers in the collection of past-due premiums or audit amounts.
  • Adheres to best practices, delivers responsive customer service, and adds value to clients to enhance producer retention goals.
  • Continuously nurtures relationships with clients, following the Agency Service Model, acting as a resource, and delivering products that hold value for clients.
  • Demonstrates readiness to accept and handle additional duties as needed.
