About The Position

The Church Insurance Companies (CIC) has been providing property and casualty coverage, risk management strategies, and tools to The Episcopal Church for over 90 years. The Underwriting Team is responsible for evaluating risk exposure, creating insurance coverage, terms, and conditions for policyholders. The Commercial Lines Assistant supports Commercial Lines Underwriters by providing administrative and technical assistance to facilitate the underwriting function.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in the insurance property & casualty industry preferred, related experience considered.
  • Extensive use of a computer keyboard.
  • Ability to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete required employment eligibility verification.
  • Must maintain a professional, compassionate, and trustworthy work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Request, gather, evaluate, and document underwriting information from agencies on insured or prospective insureds.
  • Perform prep work on new and renewal business, including evaluating loss experience, highlighting exposure details, following up on outstanding underwriting information, and assessing coverage and pricing for underwriter review.
  • Order and analyze underwriting reports for underwriter review.
  • Independently review and assess completed loss control/risk management reports.
  • Analyze and process endorsements based on authority level within a prescribed timeframe.
  • Establish and foster positive and collaborative working relationships with agency staff, billing, and claims staff.
  • Complete special projects as needed.
