About The Position

HUB International is seeking an Account Executive to join our Construction Insurance practice in Ontario. This role develops and grows a portfolio of mid-market construction clients — general contractors, developers, and specialty trades — through tailored risk management and insurance solutions. The candidate has strong relationship-building skills and working knowledge of construction risk, project insurance, and surety.

Requirements

  • 5+ years commercial insurance experience with construction industry focus
  • RIBO license or ability to obtain quickly
  • Proven success building a mid-market construction book in Ontario
  • Working knowledge of builders risk, wrap-up liability, contractor's equipment, and bonding/surety fundamentals
  • Understanding of certificates of insurance and project-specific placement requirements
  • Established network within the contractor/developer community
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills
  • Self-starter, entrepreneurial approach

Nice To Haves

  • CIP, CAIB, or CRM designation
  • Existing carrier relationships in the construction/surety space
  • Prior experience with wrap-up program placement (CCIP/OCIP)

Responsibilities

  • Prospect, develop, and close new mid-market construction accounts (GCs, developers, specialty trades)
  • Build and manage a sales pipeline to meet revenue and growth targets
  • Identify multi-line opportunities: builders risk, wrap-up liability, contractor's equipment, auto, cyber, and specialty coverages
  • Develop referral sources within the Ontario construction and development community
  • Collaborate with surety and specialty teams on cross-sell opportunities
  • Act as trusted advisor on construction risk management and program design
  • Manage renewal planning, coverage reviews, and certificate/COI processes
  • Advise clients on project-specific insurance and wrap-up structures
  • Stay current on construction market conditions, underwriting trends, and regulatory developments (e.g., prompt payment legislation, WSIB requirements)
  • Maintain relationships with construction-focused carriers and underwriters
  • Negotiate terms for builders risk, CCIP/OCIP wrap-ups, and complex placements
  • Represent HUB in construction industry associations and networking events
