About The Position

Amegy Bank is seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager Team Lead to join their Commercial Banking team in Northwest Crossing Houston, TX. This role involves leading and coaching a team of portfolio managers, overseeing credit underwriting, risk assessment, portfolio monitoring, and maintenance. The position requires a strong understanding of financial statement analysis, industry risks, collateral, loan structuring, pricing, credit analysis, and credit performance monitoring. The Team Lead will also be responsible for managing client relationships, conducting reviews, and identifying client needs for bank products and services. A key aspect of the role is developing the team to foster new relationships, grow existing ones through cross-selling, and ensure high client satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in banking, finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of commercial lending, credit analysis, underwriting, or other directly related experience.
  • Expert knowledge of commercial banking, credit analysis, underwriting, lending, loan processing, and closing processes.
  • Ability to evaluate commercial banking loans, client relationships, and cross-sell bank products.
  • Exceptional risk assessment and leadership ability.
  • Expert experience in applicant interviewing.
  • Excellent problem resolution and judgment skills.
  • Ability to structure loans and monitor credit performance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to train, lead, and mentor a team of portfolio managers.
  • Working knowledge of software applications, including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Excellent supervisory or leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and coaching a team of portfolio managers in credit underwriting, risk assessment, and portfolio monitoring and maintenance.
  • Spreading and analyzing financial statements, addressing industry risks, collateral requirements, loan structuring and pricing, credit analysis, monitoring credit performance, and loan presentations.
  • Managing relationship portfolios, conducting relationship reviews, and recommending products and services to meet clients' financial needs.
  • Leading team members, coaching them to develop new relationships, grow existing relationships through cross-selling, and providing a high level of client satisfaction.
  • Other duties as assigned.
