About The Position

The Commercial Lender is responsible for contributing to the department’s growth and profitability with an extensive focus on business development activities. The employee develops and retains business relationships by meeting the financial services needs of commercial businesses. Additionally, the employee successfully manages a portfolio of commercial banking relationships. The employee will have extensive contact with customers, vendors, the general public, and bank staff and will interact in a professional and courteous manner, and conduct him/herself in such relationships in a manner that will enhance the overall efficiency and image of the bank.

  • Previous lending experience and/or education.

Nice To Haves

  • Three to five years of experience as a Commercial Lender preferred.
  • A moderate level of banking knowledge desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Meet or exceed loan production goal as set annually by manager in conjunction with goals set for Glacier Bank annual production.
  • Obtain loan applications and interview clients. Analyze financial and related data to determine credit worthiness, appropriate pricing and loan structure while focusing on prompt and fair service regardless of approval or denial.
  • Confirm details on loan documentation are complete and correct prior to closing to insure accuracy and are in compliance with state and federal regulations as well as bank policy. All credit reports, financial statements, tax returns, title insurance commitments and appraisals are reviewed prior to closings. All supporting documentation is in the file and initialed.
  • Monitor loan delinquency and proactively identify credit problems. Manage loan accounts for current documentation, performance and total bank relationship. Respond to exception and compliance error reporting promptly to prevent or minimize potential losses.
  • Keep current on loan programs and lending (federal and state) regulations as well as all compliance and bank policies and procedures. Participate in the preparation and presentation of commercial training sessions.
  • Assist and respond to new loan requests in a timely manner by approving, declining (if within lending limitations) or submitting recommendation to loan committee. Assist as needed, in processing requests from Glacier Bank commercial lenders.
  • Meet or exceed loan production goal for the department as set annually by Commercial Loan Manager. Maintain a delinquency ratio of not more than 1%. Cross sell bank products and continue to refer clients, when appropriate, to other departments or affiliate banks. Maintain an aggressive customer call schedule; with an annual minimum of 100 calls on existing and/or prospective customers.
  • Has open communications with Commercial Loan Manager through sharing and accepting suggestions and ideas. Promote team efforts in all areas. Adjustments to change are made as necessary while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Prepare month-end reporting requirements in timely fashion.
  • Service Quality – embrace service pledge and provide extraordinary and consistent service to all internal and external customers. Listens to and asks about customer’s needs.
  • Participates in required training, staff meetings, and lobby displays.
  • Participate in Community Service and Bank-sponsored activities that serve and support the mission and values of Glacier Bank.
  • Provide superior internal and external customer service: must demonstrate self-governance, courtesy and respect toward external customers as well as internal customers (all organization personnel).
  • Complete required bank training courses within assigned time frame(s).
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Must complete the assigned online training courses and achieve a passing score by due date.
  • Represent Glacier Bank in a professional manner which includes a professional image, confidentiality, a positive “can-do” attitude, flexibility and adaptability in meeting bank and customer needs.
  • Keep work area tidy and maintain customer privacy.
  • Consistently maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Additional duties as requested or assigned.
