About The Position

Hobbs & Associates, a member of the AIR Control Concepts family, specializes in providing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) products and engineering services to commercial and industrial building contractors, architectural design firms, and business owners. They contribute to lasting community infrastructure projects such as schools, universities, hospitals, military and municipal buildings, entertainment venues, hotels, and multi-family residences. The HVAC Service Technician plays a key role in delivering top-tier service by expertly installing, servicing, and starting up a wide range of HVAC systems. This role involves diagnosing and repairing complex issues, creating positive customer experiences, and ensuring all jobs are completed to the highest standards. Technicians will work with industry-leading equipment, including VRF systems, rooftop units, and packaged systems.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of commercial HVAC service experience with systems such as VRF, rooftop units, and packaged equipment.
  • EPA Universal Certification required.
  • Skilled in diagnostics, troubleshooting, and interpreting service manuals and schematics.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with a professional, team-focused mindset.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Able to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Physically capable of lifting heavy equipment, climbing ladders, and working in various field conditions, including rooftops and tight spaces.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation for emergency service coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Service, troubleshoot, and optimize a variety of commercial HVAC systems, including performing preventative maintenance and fine-tuning system performance.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships by addressing service concerns, recommending improvements, and providing high-quality communication and support.
  • Coordinate with internal teams for efficient scheduling and follow-up, and accurately complete service reports, work orders, and related documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked service vehicle, and ensure personal tools and equipment are kept in optimal working condition.
  • Stay up-to-date through ongoing technical training and serve as a resource and occasional mentor to junior technicians.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and regulatory requirements as outlined by OSHA, the company, and customer sites.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for urgent service needs.
  • Contribute to the team and company by stepping in where needed.
